The Hook is located off Interstate 84, exit 63. Take the Portway Ave west of the Event Site and follow it all the way down to the end. It is a great spot for beginners for learning how to windsurf inside "the pond", and advanced beginners learn their deep waterstarts outside "the pond" between the ouside launch and Wells Island. Advanced sailors can launch from the north side and wiggle their way through the wind shadow of Wells Island to the main channel.
Changing rooms are now available for changing into/out of wetsuits and clothing. They are located north of the CGWA youth program shed on the west end of the road. CGWA provided the funding and the volunteer help to build the changing rooms in the Spring of 2008.
Wells Island is located just west of the Hook either by sailboard, sailing, paddle boarding, kayak, or boat. It is owned by the U.S. Forest Service. No dogs are allowed on the island during geese nesting season.
The Hook is also the spot for the annual "King of the Hook", usually held in August. Click here to read more about this fun event!
