Windance Gear Recycling Program
Windsurfers, would you like to share the sport of windsurfing with someone? Windance has started a program which will help you do this. Here is how it works:
There is an abundance of perfectly serviceable old windsurfing gear that could be used to get more people into windsurfing. Those of you who have the gear can drop it off at Windance, and those who need it can pick it up here for free! If you know someone who would benefit from this program, please contact Windance, 541-386-2131, or come by the store. The idea is to remove some of the financial obstacles to windsurfing, and introduce newcomers to the sport. Also, we need to re-circulate this gear so that it doesn't end up in our landfills.
Following are some criteria for donated gear:
- Boards must have a standard mast track for Chinook type mast bases, or come with a mast base.
- Booms must have a clamp-on front, and be adjustable bases must be standard variety: Chinook, W-Hawaii, Streamlined.
- Masts preferably have some carbon content.
- Sails must have no more than 1 camber.
- Wetsuits of any style are okay, except diving suits.
Windance is issuing CGWA receipts for the donations, and your donations will be deductible as the Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
The Gear Recycling Program to date: Brian reports his customers and others have donated a great deal of gear to this program. Over 30 boards, 30 booms, hundreds of sails, and assorted other equipment have been re-circulated.
