Meeting held to present new design- There was a meeting on Thursday, March 16th, 7pm at the Hood River Hotel. Presentation of a new design drawn from recent survey.

From Diane: I don’t have the survey results in hand, but I’m hearing windsurfing not important here at the Waterfront Park...a family beach is desired? The reason I ask...with windsurfing on the upswing and the loss of the Marina as a good windsurfing beach, and the Event Site not a really safe place for kids...and the Hook (no explanation needed)...wouldn’t you like a family beach and a windsurfing beach just ever so slightly separated so that families can be at the same site and arrive in one car? Please send me your thoughts so that I can send them on to the park committee.

Holiday Splash held for new Waterfront Park- A “Just for Fun” raiser sponsored by the Columbia River Waterfront Park Committee was held on First Friday, December 2nd, from 7 to 9 PM at 3 Rivers Grill in Hood River. The Waterfront Park Holiday Splash celebrated the official transfer of Lot 6 ownership from the Port of Hood River to the City of Hood River.

Organizers of the event invite you, “Just For Fun”, to imagine children running and squealing with delight, sunset strolls along the river bank, the color and energy of an outdoor festival or sporting event, relaxing moments reading or gazing on the sparkling waters, a family picnic on a warm, sunny day, or the coolness of a refreshing dip in the mighty Columbia. Then skip, hop, run, jump, or cartwheel your way to the “Splash” to share the dreams that will turn the vision of a multi-use, year round community jewel into a reality.

Lovers of nature and the great outdoors can swing into the spirit of the season on First Friday, December 2nd, 2005, 7 – 9 PM at 3 Rivers Grill, 601 Oak Street, Hood River. $40 per person includes appetizers, one drink, music and more. Limited event tickets available at Waucoma Book Store. Raffle tickets for a waterfront photograph by Darryl Lloyd, $5 for 1, $20 for 5.

Donations can be made to “The City of Hood River, Waterfront Park Fund” at the City of Hood River, 301 Oak Street, Hood River, OR, 97031. All kids-at-heart…welcomed!
