Beach Work and Site History

The Rowena site is an example of how new sites can be developed through the combined efforts of the CGWA and government agencies such as Oregon State Parks. Many hours of volunteer work by CGWA members were used in development of the park. This effort was led by Fred Noble who continues to work to improve the site today. More gravel is currently needed to improve the beach.

  • 2002- Beach and park clean up.

Work Party

October 27, 2001- Removed Tribulus terrestris, more frequently known as "goat's head" and "puncturevine." You may have noticed that the spines of these seedpods can penetrate rubber tires as well as human soles. This invasive weed is native to the Mediterranean and was discovered in the Northwest about 1924. (info from The Dalles Chronicle)
